잔을 가볍게 흔들면 아란 1996 싱글 캐스크 특유의 옅은 황금빛이 잔 안에서 빛난다. 코끝에 가져가면 아란섬의 청량한 공기를 머금은 듯한 가벼운 시트러스와 풋사과 향이 가장 먼저 인사한다. 한 모금을 머금으면 51.5도의 강한 알코올이 입천장을 빠르게 채우고 곧 바닐라와 꿀, 백후추가 풀린다. 삼키고 나면 가벼운 오크와 마른 허브가 따라온다.
