잔을 가볍게 흔들면 오래 묵은 짙은 황금빛이 잔 벽을 타고 우아하게 흘러내린다. 코끝으로 가져가면 글렌리벳다운 잘 익은 사과와 흰 꽃, 꿀의 향이 섬세하게 피어오른다. 한 모금을 머금어 혀 위에서 굴리면 45.7도의 부드러운 기운 속에 배와 토피, 가벼운 향신료가 둥글게 번진다. 두 번째 모금을 삼키면 글렌리벳다운 잘 익은 배와 옅은 꽃향이 한층 섬세하게 번진다. 옛 방식으로 병입된 이 스페이사이드 위스키는 삼킨 뒤 과일과 꽃향의 잔향이 차분하게 이어진다.

This is a textbook example of a mineral, flinty, smoky, earthy Glenlivet from that period, that just bursts with tiny herbal smells, as if you would wander throughout a deep Scottish forest. Make that an English forest, they’re more, say luxuriant. I cannot not think of old Clynelish here, as any taster would get overwhelmed with graphite oil, old engine oils, whiffs of new leatherette, almond water, and Cuban cigars.
