셰리 오크 캐스크에서 12년을 보낸 시간이 오크니 하이랜드 파크의 균형 잡힌 성격을 빚어낸다. 히스 꿀과 부드러운 피트, 흙내음 위로 레진 같은 셰리와 짭조름한 해안의 기운이 겹쳐 오른다. 40퍼센트의 온화한 도수에서 입안은 쓴 오렌지와 우드 스파이스, 훈제 올리브유가 은근하게 흐른다. 옅은 황금빛과 함께 미네랄과 은은한 피트의 여운이 길게 이어진다.

It’s this sort of juice that got early writers like Michael Jackson raving about HP and it’s easy to see why. It really is a wonderful spread of heathery honey, very soft peats, earthiness, some resinous sherry notes and lemony/salty coastal aspect. You can understand why it came to be referred to as the ‘great all rounder’ or whatever the phrase was. It does possess a rather unique ‘universality’, something I’m not sure you could say about the current HP - although that’s not necessarily a criticism
