향미 프로필
테이스팅 노트
잔에서 라프로익 특유의 의약품 같은 페놀과 짭조름한 갯내음, 이탄 연기가 선명하게 피어오른다. 28년 오랜 숙성이 거친 피트를 다듬어 셰리 버트의 마른 과일과 가죽 향을 명확하게 드러낸다. 입에서는 44.4%에서 부드럽지만 훈연과 오크, 다크 초콜릿의 무게가 단단한 구조감을 이룬다. 쿼터 캐스크와 버번, 셰리가 더해진 복합적인 층이 천천히 발전한다. 여운은 길고 잔잔하며 재와 소금기, 은은한 단맛이 오래 남는다. 노련하게 길들여진 아일라의 깊이가 고스란히 전해진다.

rather thrillingly, on first nosing there’s an initial rush of tropical fruits of a style more reminiscent of an old 1980s bottled 10 year old for example. Guava, mango, kumquat, star fruit etc. There’s some very soft medical embrocations underneath that along with a similarly soft, coastal-flecked mineral aspect that was more prevalent in the Boutique-y. Touches of steel wool, pine resin, roof pitch, TCP and light herbal teas. On the nose so far it’s really excellent I have to say

the fruits are not as voluminous on the palate, rather it’s more towards seawater, dried seaweed, light tarry extracts, dried herbs, bonfire smoke and things like chalk, clay and mercurochrome. I don’t really detect any overtly active wood so perhaps many of these casks it’s been in were not that active. There still a really pleasing amount of distillery character on display. Some notes of lemon peel, bergamot and vapour rubs. Lovely stuff

Good length and rather sooty and camphor with a nice oiliness and sense of a linger textural fatness
