첫 향은 소독약과 장뇌를 닮은 약재 향에 호두와 아몬드의 견과, 타르와 요오드가 겹쳐 열린다. 라프로익 1999는 퍼스트필 버번 캐스크에서 22년을 보낸 51.8도 아일라 몰트로, 오랜 숙성이 거친 피트를 다듬어 준다. 팰럿은 가죽과 담배, 강렬한 피트와 살미악, 타르가 또렷하게 발전한다. 물을 더하면 소금기가 짙어지며 아몬드와 균형을 잡는다. 22년의 시간이 피트의 힘을 우아하게 정돈한다. 퍼스트필 오크의 옅은 바닐라가 약재와 타르 사이로 스친다. 여운은 길고 짭조름하며 레몬과 훈제한 생선의 뉘앙스가 남는다.
