부나하벤이 1974년 빚어 버번 호그스헤드에서 35년을 견딘 원액이 잔 안에서 깊은 황금빛으로 비친다. 비피트로 이름난 아일라답게 향은 잘 익은 견과와 꿀, 옅은 바닷소금이 그윽하게 어우러진다. 47.3도의 입맛은 졸인 과일과 캐러멜, 미네랄이 부드럽게 미끄러진다. 삼십오 년이 빚은 원숙한 여운이 소금기와 오크로 길게 이어진다.

isn't it quite striking how the early 1970s are very different from the late 1970s at many distilleries? Indeed there are many more fruits here, it's actually a large fruit salad, with pears (but not too much!), oranges, gooseberries, melons, bananas, peaches... What's more, the oak's quite light, there's just a little cinnamon and the usual white pepper. Maybe a little fresh coriander too? Nice and clean, pleasantly uncomplicated. And that's not just the bourbon wood
