1990년 증류된 이 맥캘란을 잔에 따라 크게 돌리면 55.4도의 기름진 자국이 유리벽을 느리게 흘러내린다. 코끝을 가까이 대면 오크와 견과, 이끼와 찻잎 같은 숲의 향이 올라오고 옅은 민트가 뒤를 스친다. 한 모금 머금으면 열기가 혀를 훑으며 오크 스파이스가 앞장서 밀고 들어온다. 물을 몇 방울 떨어뜨려 다시 삼키면 비터 오렌지와 키르슈가 드러나고 나무의 결이 누그러진다. 넘긴 뒤에는 오드비를 닮은 마른 향이 목 안쪽에 길게 남는다.

Nothing wrong with that of course, but the distillate is of no importance whatsoever here and I'd swear you could make this anywhere in this world, from Tasmania to Nova Scotia.
