we’re close to those old-school Macallans, especially the 30yo blue label, or indeed the 1970 18yo—sheer splendour. Gentle earthiness, walnuts, mushrooms, dried raisins, pipe tobacco, apricots, truffle, dried figs… You see where we’re going, textbook classic style from the great era. With water: rather glorious, on beeswax polish, oranges, honeys and blond tobacco. And let’s not forget our old friends the sultanas
