테이스팅 노트
잔을 코끝에 가져가면 오래된 화이트와인과 약재 같은 바나나 향이 먼저 올라와 요즘 병입과는 다른 결을 알려준다. 연기는 옅고 과실이 앞선다. 한 모금 머금으면 43도라는 도수가 무색하게 레몬과 레몬그라스가 크게 터지고 덜 익은 구스베리, 삼베, 흑연 같은 결이 뒤엉킨다. 아몬드 오일과 백묵의 감촉도 스친다. 삼킨 뒤에는 쌉싸름함이 다소 강하게 남아 마시는 이에게 인내를 요구한다.

It’s big, extremely lemony and zesty, with some lemongrass, unripe gooseberries, then some hessian, graphite, a feeling of gravel… The whole’s a tad shaky, perhaps, less well-defined than modern bottlings, but it’s got some dazzling sparks of medicinalness (come on!) Almond oil and lemons, more hessian, a touch of chalk, some bitter herbs, peels and leaves… I’d have thought it would be an easy dram – it’s not
