테이스팅 노트
잔을 기울이면 아일라 쿨일라 특유의 맑은 볏짚빛이 옅게 비친다. 코끝에 가져가면 버번 캐스크의 부드러운 바닐라 위로 잔잔한 토탄 연기와 바다 내음, 레몬 껍질이 차례로 올라온다. 한 모금 머금으면 43도의 가벼운 질감 속에 풋사과와 소금기 어린 훈연, 풀잎의 산뜻함이 퍼진다. 삼키면 은은한 재와 후추 향이 깔끔하게 남고, 8년 어린 위스키답게 산뜻하고 정갈한 여운이 길게 따라온다.

holy crow! The same figs/quince/smoke notes as in the Duncan Taylor but with an added layer of the driest and most wonderful kind of sherry. Chocolate, macchiato and prunes. Even more smoke than in the Duncan Taylor after a while. Also a wonderful tar (and strong black liquorice), and finally mint and hints of eucalyptus, that make it a little medicinal (embrocations). Wowie!

this is an immense whisky, no doubt, even if it’s huge concentration may put off a few newbies. Where to start? The jams (strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants)? The spices (cardamom)? Herbs (coriander and dill)? Dried fruits (prunes)? Chewing tobacco? Salmiak? Old orange liqueur? Else? A headache, I tell you. Fantastic mouth feel provided you’re not afraid of, well, concentration.
