엷은 금빛이 잔 속에서 잔잔히 잠겨 있다. 스물여덟 해를 채운 1984년 원액은 카올 일라의 전형을 가장 단정하게 보여준다. 향은 버터 같은 부드러움 위에 잘 익은 사과와 귤이 얹히고 바닷바람과 생굴의 냄새가 스친다. 입에서는 감초와 연기, 과일 샐러드와 마지팬이 차례로 지나며 시간이 지날수록 재의 결이 짙어진다. 여운은 길고 건조하며 이탄의 순수한 인상만 남긴다.
