잔을 가까이 하면 바닷물에 가까운 짠 내와 숯 향이 먼저 명확하게 드러난다. 16년의 숙성에도 43도라는 낮은 도수가 오히려 이 향의 밀도와 잘 맞아떨어진다. 팰럿은 대단히 드라이하고 재의 뉘앙스가 지배적이며 굴의 감칠맛이 뒤를 받친다. 과일 뉘앙스는 거의 없고 레몬조차 옅다. 피니시로 갈수록 염도가 올라가면서 요오드와 소독약 같은 메디시널 캐릭터가 또렷이 깃들어 있다. 1982 빈티지 카올 일라의 구조감을 보여주는 병입이다.
