노즈에서는 1974 카올 일라의 짙은 피트와 짭조름한 해안 노트, 17년 스피릿의 신선한 시트러스가 가장 먼저 두드러진다. 61.1도라는 카스크 강도가 향의 윤곽을 단단하게 잡아준다. 팰럿은 훈제 레몬과 가죽, 미네랄이 명확하게 발전하고 1970년대 카올 일라 특유의 깊은 피트가 또렷이 드러난다. 피니시는 길고 짭조름한 스모크가 잔잔히 잠겨 있다.

very peaty and very peppery, quite harsh, almost pungent despite the ‘low’ strength. Little pleasure with this one, and little sweetness. The palate isn’t as terrible as the nose in fact, far from that, but it’s still very average. 78 points (still, because of its punchy attack). Caol Ila 17 yo 1974/1991 (61.1%, Signatory, cask #5-9)
