테이스팅 노트
셰리 캐스크에서 온 짙은 마호가니빛이 이 보틀링의 첫 지표다. 노즈는 훈연과 무화과가 맞물린 뒤 마키아토와 다크 초콜릿, 검은 감초로 이어지고 마지막에 유칼립투스 같은 약재 뉘앙스가 붙는다. 팰럿은 밀도가 상당해 잼과 향신료, 말린 과일이 동시에 밀려오며 43도라는 도수에도 질감이 두껍다. 카올 일라의 해안 성격은 이 안에서 훈연의 골격으로만 남는다. 피니시는 매우 길고 오래된 포트 와인의 잔향으로 정리된다.

holy crow! The same figs/quince/smoke notes as in the Duncan Taylor but with an added layer of the driest and most wonderful kind of sherry. Chocolate, macchiato and prunes. Even more smoke than in the Duncan Taylor after a while. Also a wonderful tar (and strong black liquorice), and finally mint and hints of eucalyptus, that make it a little medicinal (embrocations). Wowie!

this is an immense whisky, no doubt, even if it’s huge concentration may put off a few newbies. Where to start? The jams (strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants)? The spices (cardamom)? Herbs (coriander and dill)? Dried fruits (prunes)? Chewing tobacco? Salmiak? Old orange liqueur? Else? A headache, I tell you. Fantastic mouth feel provided you’re not afraid of, well, concentration.
