테이스팅 노트
셰리 캐스크에서 20년의 시간을 보낸 흔적이 폐쇄된 하이랜드 증류소 브로라의 1981년 빈티지를 결정한다. 더글라스 레잉 The Old Malt Cask의 50도가 단단한 도수로 펼쳐진다. 향에서는 옅은 가벼운 피트 연기와 잘 익은 자두, 마른 가죽이 코를 사로잡는다. 입에서는 토피와 다크 초콜릿의 부드러운 단맛이 묵직하게 입을 채우고 옅은 피트가 균형을 단단히 잡는다. 색은 짙은 호박빛이며 여운은 셰리와 피트가 어우러진 잔향으로 길게 따라간다. 시간과 우드의 대화가 매끄럽게 정제되어 잔향에 깊게 깃든다.

it’s the sherry that dominates the whisky here, obviously, and not just the sherry, for there’s quite some sulphur at first sniffs (hard-boiled eggs). Thank God that vanishes quite quickly, leaving room for quite some coffee (loads, actually), bitter chocolate and liquorice-flavoured toffee. Nice pepper in the background but there little peat here. Quite some gunpowder and cordite, burnt matchsticks… Not extremely typical but pleasant, I must say

good attack, unusually fruity (lots of strawberries), candied and orangey (Grand-Marnier) but quite far from ‘Brora’ as we know it, although we do have a little pepper, even hints of mustard, especially at the long finish where ‘Brora’ is finally back in its full glory.
