아일라 북동단 사운드 오브 아일라가 바라보이는 차가운 해풍이 카올 일라 1974 빈티지 20년 숙성을 처음부터 끝까지 관통한다. 잔에는 옅은 황금빛이 비친다. 향에는 식어가는 모닥불의 재 향과 굴 껍데기 같은 광물성이 또렷이 깃들어 있고 입에서는 56.6도의 알코올이 훈제 베이컨과 레몬 껍질, 바다 소금을 차례로 끌어올린다. 여운은 짠 연기로 길게 이어진다.

this one is much smokier, mineral, ashy… Notes of wet clay and chalk, old books, straw… Light spices (soft paprika). A little linseed oil, paper, whiffs of fresh mint… Rather less expressive than the 1966 but still delicate and subtly smoky. Same comment on the ABV
restaurant 맛 (팔레트)
weaker, quite tired, on apples and lightly infused tea. Cardboard. Too bad. Very short finish. Very nice nose but almost no palate I’m afraid. 72 points . Caol Ila 1968 (57%, Samaroli, oval label, 1980's)
