잔을 코끝에 가져가면 카퍼도닉 1972가 38년의 세월과 셰리우드 옥타브 피니시에서 끌어낸 짙은 자두, 가죽, 다크 초콜릿이 솟아오른다. 잔을 흔들면 짙은 마호가니빛이 잔벽에 묻어난다. 한 모금을 머금으면 52.5도의 알코올이 또렷이 입을 가르고 무화과, 흑설탕, 구운 견과가 따라온다. 던컨 테일러 옥타브의 짧은 마무리가 더해진 풍미가 입천장에 깊게 깃들어 있다. 삼킨 뒤 셰리 잔향이 호흡 끝까지 이어진다.

ah yes, it’s one of these extravagant ones. Incredibly fragrant, with as many dried fruits and flowers as God had created. Not much else to say, except that it’s also amazingly ‘beehivy’. You know, honeys, waxes, pollens, nectars… And no stings. Utterly seductive, Raquel Welsh made whisky (stay sober next time, S.!) With water: awahouwahoo! (that was a lost tribe’s dialect)
