잔을 코끝에 가져가면 뜻밖에 마르고 거친 풀 냄새가 먼저 다가오고 그 뒤로 바닐라와 오트밀 죽 같은 곡물 향이 따라붙는다. 물을 조금 더하면 결이 둥글어지며 젖은 종이 냄새가 살짝 비친다. 한 모금을 머금으면 46도에서도 힘이 굵게 밀려들며 설탕에 절인 과일과 나무의 쌉쌀함이 함께 온다. 1965년 원액이라는 나이가 무색할 만큼 기운이 젊다. 삼킨 뒤에는 과실의 단맛이 길게 이어진다.

exactly the same happens on the palate, a huge, raw whisky with a big grassiness and notes of candied fruits plus quite some oak. Not easy. With water: this is better and we’re now extremely close to the 12yo by JMcA. Frankly, it’s exactly as if 29-12=17 more years of maturing didn’t change anything to this Pittyvaich. Probably a multiple refill cask
