잔을 가까이 하면 옛 라가불린 특유의 의약 피트와 짠 미네랄이 명확하게 드러난다. 머레이 맥데이비드가 24년 오크 캐스크 46도로 병입한 이 Lagavulin 1979는 1970년대 아일라의 풍부한 오일과 절제된 훈연 균형이 또렷이 발현된다. 팰럿에서는 훈제 베이컨, 다시마, 가벼운 가죽이 차례로 발전한다. 피니시는 짠 훈연과 마른 미네랄로 길게 이어진다.
