잔을 코끝에 가져가면 스카이 섬 탈리스커로 여겨지는 이 위스키답게 마른 석탄과 시가 재, 그을음이 곧장 솟구친다. 코를 더 대면 전나무 리큐어와 쌉쌀한 코코아가 층층이 갈린다. 57.4도의 이 1995년 9년산을 한 모금 머금으면 석탄 같은 쓴맛과 비터 오렌지, 짭짤한 바닷소금이 밀려온다. 넘긴 자리에는 시가 재와 검은 후추가 목 안쪽에서 오래 이어진다.
