더글러스 랭이 병입한 탈리스커 1999는 노즈부터 오래된 석탄 더미와 시가 재, 초석과 그을음이 마른 개성으로 두드러진다. 단맛은 거의 없이 침엽수 리큐어와 쌉쌀한 코코아가 건조하게 발전한다. 50도의 팰럿은 그 쓴맛과 석탄 뉘앙스에 쓴 오렌지가 얹히고, 이 증류소 특유의 소금기와 검은 후추가 구조감을 세운다. 피니시는 시가 재와 바닷물이 얽히며 짭짤하게 이어진다.
