하이랜드의 토마틴이 카리브 럼 배럴에 담아 익힌 2007년 리미티드 에디션, 볏짚에서 금빛으로 물든 색이 잔에 어린다. 아홉 해의 향은 잘 익은 배와 마시멜로, 커피와 향신료의 이국적인 결을 뜻밖에 포갠다. 잔을 흔들면 그 위로 사과와 곡물의 단맛이 배어 나온다. 46도의 질감이 입안을 감싸며 잘 익은 사과와 벌꿀주, 흰 후추와 생강의 온기를 또렷하게 전한다. 럼 캐스크가 젊은 스피릿에 더한 낯선 개성 위로, 마른 사과 껍질과 후추의 여운이 길고 드라이하게 늘어진다.

this one is completely different from the 30, with much less fruity lightness and freshness and some unexpected whiffs of patchouli, coriander and coffee at first sniffs. Then come the pears and marshmallows, a little muesli and beer, touches of varnish and lastly, a lot of ripe apples (goldens)… What’s interesting is that the older whiskies start to talk later, making this nose closer and closer to the 30’s even if some ‘young fresh bourbon’ notes always remain there

it’s a bit strange now, with some dissonance between youthful fruity notes and oldish woody ones. Ripe apples, a little mead, white pepper and cinnamon, ginger, malt, hints of tinned papayas… Also notes of ale
