캠벨타운 항구도시가 기른 스프링뱅크의 헤이즐번은 삼중 증류의 부드러움에 짭짤한 해풍을 머금는다. 2001년 증류해 퍼스트필 버번 배럴에서 16년을 보낸 듀티 페이드 샘플로, 잔에는 옅은 금빛이 담긴다. 향은 밀랍과 축축한 흙, 오래된 소테른의 꿀 같은 흙내음이 깊게 배어난다. 51.2도의 도수로 입안은 의외로 투박하고 멘톨과 허브, 마른 뿌리의 쌉쌀함이 흐른다. 여운은 중간 길이로 흙내와 오래된 화이트 와인의 뉘앙스가 남는다.

goes towards beeswax and in that respect, reminds you of many an old 'Local Barley' or 'West Highland Malt', or 21/25 by 'Archibald Mitchell'. Exceptional meady earthiness and old 1st-cru Sauternes. Amazing, truly 'the smells of 1972' (Clynelish, Springbank Glen Grant and so on). Stuff of legends. With water: damp earth, camphor, swamp, old mead, old furniture polish… It holds for sure

unexpectedly rustic, mentholy, dry, herbal… Not exactly what I've been expecting. Maybe the cask. With water: roots and earths. Really good, but it is as if it wasn't the same whisky on the nose. Beers and meads
