잔을 가까이 하면 흑설탕과 볶은 아몬드 향이 먼저 드러난다. 시간이 지나며 마른 담뱃잎과 나무 향이 뒤에서 발전한다. 헨리 맥케나 10년은 같은 가격대 버번 중 오크 표현이 또렷한 편에 속한다. 팰럿은 바닐라와 토피로 시작해 중반에 후추와 정향이 명확하게 올라온다. 50도의 알코올이 혀를 짧게 조인 뒤 풀린다. 피니시는 코코아와 참나무가 남으며 여운이 길지도 짧지도 않다.
