잔을 코앞에 두고 짧게 여러 번 들이마시면 옥수수의 단내가 층층이 쌓인다. 잔을 돌리면 바닐라와 그을린 오크가 합류한다. 한 모금을 머금어 입안에 펴면 메이플과 정향이 진하게 깔리고 알코올이 뺨 안쪽을 데운다. 넘긴 뒤에는 볶은 곡물과 흑후추가 오래 맴돈다. 50도로 병입한 이 헨리 맥케나 10년은 물 한두 방울에도 표정이 크게 바뀐다.
