하일랜드의 벤 네비스가 호그스헤드에서 스물일곱 해를 보낸 1996 빈티지다. 진한 황금빛이 잔에 깊게 어린다. 벤 네비스 특유의 밀랍과 잘 익은 과일, 오래된 가죽의 향이 두텁게 피어오른다. 48.7도의 입맛은 무화과와 꿀, 진한 몰트 단맛이 또렷하게 맞물리며 두꺼운 질감으로 흐른다. 긴 여운에는 밀랍과 향신료, 은은한 오크가 깊게 머물며 묵직한 개성을 길게 남긴다.

a fruitier version, thus very lovely but a touch less complete than the previous. Fruit salad, mango, papaya, banana, pears in syrup, a drop of acacia honey, a splash of fruity olive oil. Irresistible, perhaps even a tad too irresistible, if we’re being pedantic (as often, S.)…

it regains balance through the wood, sap, fir resin, herbal infusions and teas… Make no mistake, it’s marvellous, but cask #1648 lays down the law here
