잔을 가까이 하면 벤 네비스다운 묵직하고 기름진 풍미 위로 잘 익은 과일과 밀랍, 가벼운 흙내음이 두드러진다. 1996년 증류된 21년 원액답게 거친 개성이 잘 익어 복합적인 깊이가 또렷하게 드러난다. 입에서는 48.8도의 도수가 토피와 말린 과일, 가죽 같은 풍미를 매끄럽게 끌고 가며 하이랜드의 두꺼운 보디감이 단단하다. 오래 숙성된 벤 네비스다운 왁스 질감이 명확하고, 피니시는 과일과 오크가 길게 남는다.
