세월에 익은 짙은 호박빛이 잔에 깊이 잠겨 있다. 1949년 빈티지 글렌 그란트가 33년을 보낸 고든 앤 맥페일 라이선스드 보틀링의 향은 잘 익은 자두와 무화과의 농밀한 단내 위로 묵은 가구의 고풍스러운 오크, 그리고 반세기 가까운 시간이 길어 올린 가죽과 옅은 토바코가 우아하게 어우러진다. 한 모금에 40도의 절제된 도수가 미끄러지듯 흐르며 캐러멜라이즈된 흑설탕과 마른 살구, 가벼운 시나몬, 옅은 견과류가 차례로 펼쳐진다. 한 시대의 끝자락을 담은 깊고 우아한 여운으로 마무리된다.

air Nose
a fantastic combination of cigarette tobacco (say a pack of Camels), metal polish, humus and beeswax at first nosing, with much elegance and that ‘antique’ side that’s so pleasant in these old-old whiskies (old bottle of old whisky). Goes on more towards figs and milk chocolate, honey, ‘yellow’ (flor, vin jaune) and fresh mint, camphor and eucalyptus (yes, Vicks). Wonderful
restaurant Palate
why were old whiskies at 40% vol. more potent that new whiskies at 40% vol.? That’s another mystery… Anyway, this one starts with a little dry tea and goes on with many dried fruits, something slightly leathery, touches of honey, gingerbread and then something faintly cardboardy (or unsweetened tea again). Loses steam a bit but that’s pretty normal
timer Finish
maybe a little short but some very notes of bitter oranges and cinnamon show off. Cinnamony and even slightly sooty aftertaste
