Tasting Notes
잔을 코끝에 가져가면 1963년 빈티지 글렌 그란트 5년이 어린 나이답지 않게 오래된 코냑 같은 향을 먼저 풀어낸다. 향을 들이켜면 복숭아 과즙과 간장, 훈제한 소고기의 묵직한 라치오가 올라오고 카시스와 타르가 그 뒤를 잇는다. 한 모금을 머금으면 40도의 술이 의외로 진한 감칠맛으로 입을 채우며 말린 자두와 박하, 약재의 결이 교차한다. 삼키고 나면 고기와 잼, 타르 같은 끝맛이 길게 따라오며 좀처럼 사그라들지 않는다.

we’re in old wine and old cognac territories now. Seriously, this is cognac, and not just the average juice. Wonderful peach juice, meat and soy sauces, smoked beef (all right, that would be rancio), then touches of cassis and redcurrant liqueurs, more meat, even more meat, and then just a large T-bone steak with a little bilberry sauce. On top of all that, some tar and rubber (bicycle inner tube) and a large pack of cough lozenges. This is amazingly unusual for malt whisky

would you please call the anti-maltoporn brigade before it’s too late? It’s just as unusual now, with quite a lot of Chinese sour prune sauce, maybe a drop of marmite (argh… not!), some mint, cough syrup and… well, all that jazz. Extremely rancioty again, old-cognac-style. Yes you may call that ‘umami’
