퍼스트필 셰리 호그스헤드에서 10년을 보낸 숙성이 아란의 생기 있는 원액에 짙은 옷을 입혔다. 잔을 코에 가져가면 잘 익은 체리와 건포도, 가벼운 계피 향이 또렷하게 피어오른다. 60도의 강렬한 도수는 다크베리와 흑설탕, 호두의 풍미를 힘차게 밀어 올린다. 비교적 젊은 증류소인 아란다운 깨끗한 과실미가 셰리의 단맛을 받쳐준다. 짙은 호박빛 끝에 정향과 마른 자두가 길게 남는다.

not much difference with the ‘native’ versions. A tad more buttery and, okay, notes of ripe apples. Pleasant I must say. With water: grassier and even grainier

much more interesting than on the nose. Bubblegummy, notes of cherry-flavoured beer (Kriek) this time. Spanish apple liqueur (manzana verde). Or should I say ‘calvados’? With water: it got really good now, creamy, fruity and jammy ala Balvenie. Good, medium long finish on the same flavours
