잔을 흔들지 않고 먼저 향을 맡은 뒤 천천히 돌려 다시 확인한다. 처음에는 옥수수 시럽이 다음에는 흑설탕과 마른 체리가 순서대로 열린다. 한 모금 머금으면 기름진 질감이 혀를 감싸며 정향과 후추가 나란히 퍼진다. 넘긴 뒤에는 담뱃잎과 볶은 커피가 남아 병입 규정을 지킨 이 보틀링의 단단함을 끝까지 보여준다. 다시 코를 가져가면 옥수수 향이 남아 있다.
