리벳 강가의 외진 골짜기에서 정식 면허 1호로 이름을 알린 글렌리벳은 스페이사이드의 대표 얼굴이다. 12년 엑설런스는 40도로 병입해 산뜻하고 접근하기 쉬운 결을 지녔다. 옅은 호박빛 잔에서 바닐라와 뜨거운 버터, 타르트 타탕과 캐러멜 향이 부드럽게 오른다. 입안에서는 감초 뿌리와 마른 과일, 바닐라 크림에 오크와 흰 후추가 얹혀 흐른다. 여운은 길지만 캐러멜의 단맛이 도드라지며 오래 이어진다.

air Nose
starts on full vanilla mode, with some hot butter and oak. Tarte tatin, caramel, vanilla crème… Getting a little sour after a two or three minutes, and very grainy. Quite narrow, in fact, too bad… Hints of liquorice
restaurant Palate
quite nicer than the nose suggested, even if quite watery. Some nice liquorice roots, dried fruits, caramel, vanilla crème, and yes, quite some oak and white pepper. It d evelops on crystallised orange zest. It’s not as complex as its older brother but rather enjoyable and satisfying. The finish is quite long but there’s perhaps too much caramel. A nice mouth, very compact and appealing; too bad the nose was so simple. 81 points . Glenlivet 12 yo ‘French oak finish’ (40%, OB, circa 2003)
