Tasting Notes
아일라 남부 킬달튼 해안의 아드벡은 강렬한 피트와 바다의 풍토로 잘 알려져 있다. 1973년 증류된 이 15년산은 잔에 옅은 황금빛을 띤다. 향은 짭조름한 해조와 그을린 피트 위로 레몬과 의약품 같은 요오드가 또렷하게 솟는다. 입에서는 53.4도의 도수가 훈제 연기와 후추, 소금기를 날카롭게 입안 가득 채운다. 여운은 재와 미네랄, 짭짤한 피트가 길게 남아 옛 아드벡의 야성을 그대로 전한다.

air Nose
rather mellow and kind of appeased, starting more on kumquats and soot than on wild peat. A lot of various herbal teas as well, such as chamomile, thyme tea, rosemary and garlic tea (good for our heart) and then whiffs of wet fabric, old books, dusty street under the first rain and tapioca flour (which is quite odourless but not totally so). Gets finally much more medicinal, with whiffs of antiseptic and camphor that are usually rather to be found in a neighbouring malt whisky. And fresh almonds
restaurant Palate
smooth, very lightly peated and unusually honeyed for an Ardbeg. Very strange, but very pleasant development on buttered croissants, caramel crème, kumquats, mint-flavoured nougats and, well, plain mint (and mint liqueur such as Ricqlès – dunno if you know that one). Pretty excellent but you have to like mint
timer Finish
medium long, even more mentholated. Incredible!
