글렌파클라스를 품은 스페이사이드 벤리네스 산기슭은 셰리와 몰트가 조화로운 원액을 빚는다. 43도로 병입된 18년으로, 1989년경 나온 이 오래된 보틀링은 잔에 부드러운 황금빛을 담는다. 향은 건초와 구운 사과, 바닐라와 밀랍의 가장 부드러운 몰트향이 피어오른다. 편안한 도수로 입안은 사과 파이와 홍차, 말린 배와 무화과, 한 방울의 꿀처럼 온화하게 흐른다. 여운은 다소 짧게 이어지며 케이크 같은 곡물의 단맛이 곱게 잦아든다.

it’s relatively soft at first nosing, perhaps even a tad Havana-Club-y, if I may, with some hay, baked apples, vanilla, and the softest maltiness ever. Quite. A little beeswax as well, but I’d rather call this baby ‘a whispering malt’. There are much bigger Glenfarclasses, we all know that

indeed it’s rather gentle, it’s almost a Glenfarclas in the style of Glenlivet, if you see what I mean. Apple pie, teas, dried pears, a small fig, a touch of honey… Exactly what would please some random traveller, I imagine
