Flavor Profile
Tasting Notes
Colour
light amber
air Nose
unmistakenly old HP, with the trademark whiffs of heather honey and that light, pleasantly soapy peatiness. By soapy I mean akin to high-end make-up remover, not cheap Palmolive. After that, we get oranges, tangerines, more honey, a little seawater, then whiffs of camphor, antiseptic and old books. Also a little ink. As often with these old HPs, the whole is incredibly complex and ‘wide’
restaurant Palate
ah yes! A salty tang (as they say), oranges, honeydew, pine sap, marzipan, kumquats, then various herbal liqueurs, first verbena (Verveine du Velay) then rather Benedictine. Also liquorice and that famous smokiness… Quality’s high, extremely high
timer Finish
long, with more pepper. Tangerine marmalade and bitter oranges
