Flavor Profile
Tasting Notes
Colour
white wine
air Nose
starts clean, pure, crisp, on lemon juice, seaweed and smoke with hints of grain. As classically Laphroaigish as it can get. Goes on with hints of paraffin, burning candle… Notes of rubber band, wet stone and finally quite some lily of the valley and almond milk. Not complicated but rather perfect
restaurant Palate
sweet, extremely lemony, fruity (kiwi juice), smoky, peaty… I couldn’t be more typical. A certain waxiness, grassiness… All that isn’t complex but so perfectly balanced and compact, with a long, very coherent finish… Now, it lacks ‘difference’, especially after the 8 yo we just had. In other words, ‘just another excellent young Laphroaig’, but that’s more than enough to deserve 88 points in my books. Laphroaig 12 yo 1993 (54.8%, Jack Wieber’s Auld Distillers, 287 bottles)
