아일라 남안의 축축한 이탄 늪 기운을 고스란히 담은 1969년 라프로익 언블렌디드다. 깊은 골드빛이 잔에 어린다. 향은 살짝 무른 오렌지에서 엔진 오일과 갈탄, 버섯과 젖은 흙으로 끝없이 변주된다. 무려 91.4도의 원액은 타라곤과 감초, 살미아크에 타르 먹은 검은 나무가 얽혀 강렬하다. 밤 껍질 같은 마른 쓴맛도 스친다. 여운은 길고 레몬의 산미와 이탄 향이 오래 이어진다.

starts with slightly rotting oranges, in a nice way, then a lot of engine oil, fat grasses, some ‘good’ lavender, brown coal, chicken bouillon with parsley and chives, mushrooms and damp earth… The engine of a 750cc Norton Commando ;-). Dried porcinis, asparagus soup. It never stops changing. Astounding dry Laphroaig

quite huge, herbal… Tarragon, liquorice, burnt herbs, salmiak, kummel, some kind of tarry and astringent dark wood (why dark, S.?), then dry chestnut mash, earth…
