잔을 들어 빛에 비추면 붉은 기가 도는 구리색이 또렷이 드러난다. 코를 가까이 하면 바닐라 빈과 흑설탕이 앞서고 잔을 한 번 더 돌리면 볶은 아몬드와 말린 체리가 따라 올라온다. 입에 머금고 굴리면 옥수수의 둥근 단맛이 먼저 퍼지고 곧 새 아메리칸 오크의 후추 맛이 혀 가장자리를 조인다. 삼킨 뒤에는 담뱃잎 같은 마른 기운이 입천장에 남는다.
