again, more or less the same with just more coffee, probably from the alcohol. Also a little fatter, oilier, ashier and more mineral (wet chalk). Whiffs of lamp petrol
restaurant Palate
excellent, in the same vein as the Milroys, with an extra-mintiness and a little more lemon but developing much further after the attack, maybe more ‘Lagavulin’ than ‘Caol Ila’ now. Notes of strawberries, marzipan, orange blossom water, getting then earthier, with even notes of fresh mushrooms (not Chinese this time) and something faintly resinous. Excellent peaty whisky, really, bold and assertive of not very complex. Long, clean but very persistent finish on peat, liquorice and dried pears. This one won’t disappoint peat lovers!
