잔을 흔들고 코를 가져가면 맥캘란치고 유난히 풀기가 강한 향이 먼저 다가온다. 사과 껍질과 호두 속껍질, 파라핀 같은 기름기가 이어지고 젖은 점토의 미네랄이 뒤에 깔린다. 한 모금을 머금으면 양초 왁스의 질감과 오렌지 껍질의 시큼함이 함께 움직여 인상이 독특하게 갈린다. 43도라 자극은 크지 않다. 삼키면 나뭇잎과 과일 껍질의 쌉쌀함이 중간 길이로 이어진다. 호그스헤드에서 11년을 보낸 1997년 빈티지의 개성 있는 표정이다.

rather big but unusually grassy for The Macallan, with a combination of apple peeling, walnut skin and plain paraffin. Metal polish, sour apples, wet clay. Not very aromatic to say the least and far from the good 12 or even 10 that were also available at the time

very bizarre. It’s not that it’s unpleasant but some notes of candle wax – not too nice on the palate – plus something such as rotting oranges just don’t work. Varnish
