화이트 와인처럼 옅은 빛이 잔 안에 얇게 깔린다. 1989년 증류해 호그스헤드에서 20년을 보낸 이 맥캘란은 셰리 대신 보리 본연의 기름진 결을 앞세운다. 해바라기를 닮은 노란 꽃 향과 오렌지 껍질이 먼저 올라오고, 물을 한 방울 더하면 커스터드와 버터 크림이 뒤따른다. 46도의 입안은 도톰하고 유질감이 뚜렷해 맥아 단맛이 미끄러지듯 번진다. 여운은 길게 이어지며 기름진 곡물과 꿀의 잔향을 남긴다.

same style, with a fat, oily, beautifully barleyish style, some yellow flowers – and we cannot not think of sunflowers – and touches of oranges. This reminds me that in the olden days, we were very keen on ex-bourbon Macallan, because all the officials were sherried. A normal blogger would add ‘how time flies!’. End of the nostalgic sequence. With water: some butter cream, custard, even a little margarine…
