버번 호그스헤드에서 25년을 보낸 1990년 맥캘란의 시간이 잔 안에서 깨끗하게 풀려난다. 셰리 캐스크가 아닌 버번 캐스크 맥캘란의 흔치 않은 보틀링답게 향에서는 향긋한 바닐라와 잘 익은 배, 옅은 꿀이 차례로 일어나고 입에서는 캐러멜과 사과 콤포트, 향긋한 오크의 향신료가 풀바디로 입을 채운다. 49.4도라는 도수가 25년 세월에 다듬어진 둥글고 깊은 질감을 잘 살린다.

we’re much, much more in the style of the official now, even if this is less aromatic and rather more on leaves, grass and nuts. Other than that, there are the same notes of rum, raisins, oranges and chocolate plus, indeed, quite some gunpowder. Maybe a little eucalyptus as well
