잔을 천천히 기울이면 1937년에 증류된 이 맥캘란-글렌리벳 병입이 짙은 갈색으로 유리에 배어난다. 코를 가져가면 말린 자두와 흑설탕이 먼저 올라오고 잔을 흔들수록 오래된 나무와 담배 냄새가 겹쳐진다. 한 모금 머금으면 건포도와 초콜릿의 단맛이 두껍게 흐르고 마른 향신료가 그 위를 스친다. 삼킨 뒤에는 커피와 감초 같은 쓴맛이 목 안쪽에 깊게 머문다.
