백포도주에 가까운 옅은 빛이 잔 속에서 맑게 반짝인다. 리필 호그스헤드에서 21년을 보냈지만 이 1990년은 숙성 기간보다 젊고 거칠어 배와 사과, 발효 중인 곡물과 유크림의 향이 앞에 선다. 그 아래에는 서늘한 석회암의 광물 향이 깔려 있다. 52.7도의 입안은 밀랍과 쌉쌀한 풀맛이 강하게 밀고 들어와 익숙한 셰리 맥캘란과는 다른 얼굴을 보인다. 여운은 길고 풀기가 짙으며 재를 닮은 끝맛을 남긴다.

much pleasant again but it’s having trouble after the 1998. This 1990 is curiously younger and harsher, with pears and apples everywhere as well as beer, leaven and dairy cream. Also limestone. With water: more rocks, limestone, whiffs of vase water and leatherette. Bizarre, bizarre, did you say bizarre?
restaurant Palate
a little difficult, with a soapiness and rather heavy paraffin, then more bitter/waxy flavours and a prickliness. Gin fizz. A strange baby to say the least, very un-Macallan. With water: becomes bitter and extremely grassy. The exact opposite of the 1998

long, grassy, bitter. Ashy and sooty aftertaste, which isn’t un-nice
