Tasting Notes
잔을 가만히 흔들면 1976년 빈티지 매캘란의 짙은 마호가니가 잔 벽을 따라 묵직하게 흐른다. 코끝에 가져가면 셰리 우드가 29년 동안 길어낸 말린 자두, 호두 빵, 묵은 가죽 향이 함께 솟아오른다. 한 모금을 머금으면 45.5도의 절제된 알코올이 무화과 잼과 다크초콜릿을 입천장에 둥글게 밀어 올린다. 삼키면 옅은 정향과 시가 박스가 길게 따라오며 파인 앤 레어 시리즈의 거장적인 결이 또렷이 깃든다.

air Nose
starts with many mushrooms and some old leather, plus whiffs of old copper kettle. Some charming OBE to be found, this one really noses as if it was mostly old bottles that have been re-decanterised (!). Also balsa wood, going towards shoe polish
restaurant Palate
powerful, rather peppery, and always quite metallic (copper again). We’re rather far away from the distillery’s contemporary style? Chestnut purée, cinnamon, white pepper, a little bitter caramel. I suppose they added some younger whiskies to make it a little brighter and less dry/drying. Some shoe polish to be found again
timer Finish
slightly bitter and woody, long, with some chlorophyll and walnut stain. Provence herbs in the aftertaste
