Tasting Notes
코를 잔 안으로 넣어 짧게 끊어 맡으면 데운 버터와 바닐라, 캐러멜이 차례로 스친다. 잔을 더 돌려도 셰리 캐스크의 흔적은 크게 부풀지 않고 곡물과 마른 나무가 앞선다. 한 모금 머금으면 고소한 견과의 첫맛이 매끈하게 지나간 뒤 탄닌과 짠맛, 감초가 혀에 남는다. 삼키면 1963년이라는 숫자가 주는 기대보다 조용한 마무리가 이어지며 옅은 금빛 외관과 어울리는 담백함을 남긴다.

pale gold, just a tad darker than the 8yo
air Nose
very similar, just a little less mashy but a tad oakier, with a little more vanilla and warm butter. Slightly rounder and more caramelised – and civilized. No comments on Japanese climate I’m afraid but I like this better than the 8 yo on the nose
restaurant Palate
the same happens on the palate, the attack is quite nice, caramelized, nutty and vanilled but it all falls apart after that, with just these tannins remaining, as well as a little cardboard and a little salt plus hints of liquorice. The finish isn’t quite as nonexistent as the 8yo’s but frankly, there isn’t much happening here. Certainly not a samurai: 72 points . Now, the good news is that you don’t even need to rinse your glass before you pour yourself another whisky.
