Tasting Notes
스페이강 유역 언덕에 자리한 매캘란은 온화한 스페이사이드 기후 속에서 균형 잡힌 결을 다듬는다. 잔에는 맑은 호박빛이 감돈다. 세 종류 캐스크를 거친 파인 오크 12년은 붉은 자두와 나무 향신료, 은은한 시럽 같은 향을 둥글게 풀어낸다. 40도의 입안은 바닐라와 다크 초콜릿에 탄닌의 조임이 더해져 살짝 와인 같은 결로 흐른다. 여운은 은은한 단맛과 마른 탄닌을 남기며 은근하게 잦아든다.

round, nicely balanced. Some very nice woody notes. Very spicy (syrah!) and almost like some old boy’s jam (all sorts of red fruits, especially plum). A great nose
restaurant Palate
lots of quite harsh tannins. Chapoutier uses some brand new casks for his Pavillon, so no wonder the malt’s alcohol extracted that many tannins. Hints of sulphur. Gets quite winey after a while. Notes of vanilla and dark chocolate. Rather long, but tannic and slightly sweetish finish. Not too enjoyable, I’d say, but the nose is really great. 82 points .
