셰리 오크 캐스크가 10년 매캘런 원액에 짙은 풍미를 새겨 넣으며 캐스크 스트렝스의 골격을 세운다. 우드가 준 볶은 견과와 프루트케이크, 모카 위로 밀랍과 마른 소고기 같은 향이 겹쳐 오른다. 58.6퍼센트의 강한 도수에서 입안은 아르마냑에 절인 자두와 무화과, 대추가 묵직하게 입을 채운다. 구릿빛 감도는 호박색과 함께 말린 과일과 늦게 찾아오는 꿀의 여운이 길게 남는다.

no, this is quite different, far more on roasted nuts and fruitcake, mocha, roasted sesame oil, even beeswax and dried beef. Then it shifts gradually towards furniture polish. Overall, it’s distinctly drier. With water: this official version gains a slight edge, thanks to a little more beeswax and some soft oils (sunflower)
restaurant Palate
the gap narrows on the palate, with the differences becoming more subtle. We’re on spicy dried fruits and Armagnac-soaked prunes once more. One is reminded of Austrian ‘Rumba Pfaumle’, which, long story short, translates, for the record, as ‘chocolate-dipped dried plums with domestic rum’. And in Austria, domestic rum is quite something, but I digress… With water: this time we’re nearly identical, this one just being a tad more polished, more harmonious.
