잔을 코앞으로 가져가면 향이 처음에는 조용하다가 이내 날카롭고 메마른 쪽으로 방향을 잡는다. 맑은 연기와 타르, 구두약 냄새가 차례로 드러나고 포트 파이프에서 마무리한 흔적은 붉은 과실보다 단맛의 결로만 남는다. 한 모금 머금으면 46도치고 힘이 좋고 피트와 감초가 나란히 서며 옅은 쓴맛이 균형을 잡아준다. 삼키면 연기가 마른 결로 남아 서서히 옅어진다.
