노즈는 어린 일본 몰트 특유의 풋풋한 보리 향 위로 옅은 피트 연기가 먼저 드러나고, 시간이 지나면 배와 풋사과의 산뜻한 과일 향이 뒤따른다. 와카츠루 사부로마루의 이 3년 숙성 보틀링은 48도에 비해 자극이 잘 절제되어 있다. 팰럿에서는 곡물의 단맛과 가벼운 훈연, 풋사과의 산미가 또렷하게 이어지며 어린 위스키답지 않은 구조감이 느껴진다. 입안 질감은 가볍지만 중심이 또렷하다. 피니시는 길지 않지만 깔끔하고 마른 재의 기운이 끝까지 남는다. 짧은 숙성에도 사부로마루의 피트 캐릭터가 명확하게 드러나는 한 잔이다.
